Key Information

• Online Only: Applications are not accepted directly at the school. All submissions must be made via the GDE website.
• Application Window: The GDE announces specific dates each year for applications. Please monitor their website for the official announcement, typically around June/July for the following academic year.
• Placement Priority: Placement is determined by the GDE based on criteria such as home address within the school's feeder zone, having a sibling at the school, and parents' work address.

Step-by-Step Application Process

1. Check Application Dates
   Visit the GDE website to confirm the official start and end dates for the application period.
2. Register Online
   Create a parent/guardian profile on the GDE Admissions portal. You will need your ID number and a valid South African cell phone number.
3. Complete the Application
   Log in and fill out the application form for your child. You can apply to a maximum of five schools, which you should rank in order of preference.
4. Upload Documents
   After submitting your application, you will have 7 days to upload all required documents to the portal. Failure to do so will result in an incomplete application.
5. Accept Placement Offer
   The GDE will send placement offers via SMS on a specific date. You must log back into the portal to accept your preferred offer within 7 days to secure your child's spot.

Required Documents (Certified Copies)

• Parent/Guardian South African ID or Passport
• Child's Unabridged Birth Certificate
• Proof of Home Address (e.g., latest utility bill, lease agreement)
• Child's most recent Grade 7 school report
• Child's Clinic/Immunization Card
• For non-South African citizens: A valid study permit for the child.
